Neptunus builds around Berkeley Square for art exhibition

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Temporary structures specialist Neptunus branched out for a green challenge at this year's Pavilion of Art and Design in London.

The firm built around several protected trees, stone steps and walls at the site on Berkeley Square in London, which took place from 12 to 16 October. The fifth annual event welcomed 58 international exhibitors.
Neptunus constructed several temporary structures for this major art event including a large Alu Hall, Double Decker and an Alure Globe, covering a surface area of more than 3,800sqm.

This was the second time Neptunus had built for the Pavilion of Art & Design. Temporary structures were also supplied for the 2010 exhibition in Paris.

"The Pavilion of Art and Design was a challenging project for Neptunus because there were lots of trees where the structures needed to be placed and the time span was short," said sales director Tom Ambaum.

"Not only did we work around the trees, we had to implement them into the structures as well. In addition, this was the first time double decker structures had been displayed in Berkeley Square and loading and unloading of the structures had to take place during the night," he added.

The Pavilion of Art and Design is one of the largest modern art exhibitions in the world and enjoyed a record number of exhibitors at the 2011 event. Art galleries from Barcelona, Brussels, Milan, New York, Paris and Stockholm showcased their artworks to the public.
